02.23.09Meeting Minutes: Meeting VIIMeeting discussion: We watched a clip from Marjoe, an academy award winning documentary about former child minister Marjoe Gortner. He became a born-again preacher four years after he was born, apparently because he had been forced (physically) by his mother. This happened around 1950, but could people still pull it off today? A few people were quick to point out Jesus Camp as a modern example. Sounds interesting, right? We’ll probably have a screening of Marjoe at a later point in time. Remember: February 12 is Darwin Day, which is Darwin's 200th Birthday! Expect to see us on Bruin Walk. Also, February 18 is when Dan Barker, copresident of the Freedom from Religion Foundation, is coming over for a talk. Meetings are on fridays, 5-7 pm in Ackerman 2408. 02.01.09Meeting Minutes: Meeting IVLast Friday, we had a lot going on. Global Warming, memes, car analogies, everything. Pretty much, if you missed this, you missed out. Among other things, we discussed topics and ideas that we'd like to see in the future. Popular ideas included having more formal debates between two members, having a meditation at the beginning of the meeting, or discussing the film What the Bleep!? (critically, of course).
