Mission Statement
In order to foster a campus community utilizing free inquiry and critical thinking in the pursuit of knowledge and understanding, the Bruin Alliance of Skeptics and Secularists (BASS) is founded on a mission to provide to a voice of reason and skepticism in regards to issues and controversies of the day, in such areas of spiritualism, magic, belief, and claims of the supernatural. Our main goals include:
1. Establishing a positive social environment for UCLA students who are skeptics, rationalists, atheists, freethinkers, agnostics, and critical thinkers.
2. Enriching UCLA campus life by sponsoring educational events and fostering student dialog on matters of reason, science, and belief.
3. To engage UCLA students in issues of national and international import emerging from freedom of conscience and the separation of church and state.
4. To counter the growth of irrationality and disdain for science and critical thinking that threatens the fabric of society.
