Ever wanted to hear people argue about HIV denialism?

[this was written with haste, so forgive the parts that make no sense]

Alright kids,

The game is debates. For the past two years ever since I stumbled upon this glorious piece of entertainment, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doKkOSMaTk4 have been combing the interwebs slowly finding myself going to the same websites for streaming vids or audio and also found myself listening to the same debates over and over again. I have decided that you are all ready to receive the following collection of mostly audio recordings, some scattered videos but all free to download that I have acquired over the past two years. Use these wisely…but listen to them, they kick ass.

So the following is a list of links to mostly MP3 formatted audio debates with some descriptions/tips I’ve added underneath each link that it relates to in order to help yous guys out a little:

Kent Hovind before he went to prison hosted an internet radio show called The Creation Science Hour and a half. Anyways this math grad student from Dartmouth called in like a billion

This site is the Jackpot in relation to this post. Not only are there, I think, around a hundred different debates for free in mp3 format, but the topics range from evidence for the resurrection to 9-11 troofers vs. Popular Mechanics!

Here’s a few debates I recommend everyone check out:

Christopher Hitchens vs. Alister McGrath,
http://www.bringyou.to/McGrathHitchensDebate.mp3
Let me come out and say it, I love Hitchens and he always gives a good debate. This is a nice solid debate which I think is a great introduction for those that are either new to Hitchen’s style or tend to dislike Hitchens. He’s not drunk, he’s not on a program like Hannity and Colmes or Dennis Prager (see RD.net below) and he is going up against someone who actually talks more than he does.

I chose this one cause Dinesh D’Souza is slow slick that hey is able to make anyone agree with the completely illogical arguments that he makes. He’s debated Michael Shermer, Peter Singer, Daniel Dennett and even Christopher Hitchens but I think the one person who actually one upped Dinesh was Dan Barker. I think this is also one of Barker’s best debates also.

This is probably the most well presented, organized and informative debate I have ever heard. It’s so well done that it should be required listening for speech and debate courses.

This one is the the ultimate debate on Evo v Intelligent Design. It has:
Barry Lynn-Lawyer-Reverand-Executive Director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State Barry Lynn who definitely utilizes the public speaking attributes any good lawyer or reverand should have during this debate,
Eugenie Scott-From NCSE, really good at calling people like those apart of the ID movement on it’s real purpose and never lets them dodge that fact. Also she’s an anthropologist, which is +10 points.
Michael Ruse-He’s awesome cause he puts everyone back in their places one really stretched arguments get thrown around. And he’s pretty nice to listen to.
and Ken Miller-Probably the best opponent against Intelligent Design ever. He’s so freaking nice and is a professor at Brown University so he knows how to convey complex ideas to those not well versed in Molecular Biology, really fast AND with a lot of slides and stuff.
vs.
Michael Behe-Came up with Irreducible Complexity,
Phillip Johnson-The guy who came up with Intelligent Design.
William F. Buckley-this guy speaks like a 19th century romance poem,
and David Berlinksi-total swarmy ID proponent, the Discovery Institute loves him cause he’s an atheist who supports ID kind of like bizzaro Ken Miller only not as bad ass.

I recommend this one cause it’s something different from evolution and religion. It also features my favorite skeptic of all Dr Steven Novella who wins the debate like the hardass he is. The only problem is his opponent Dr Baumann drones on and on and talks really slow and interupts Novella a lot with his really annoying voice. Besides Novella being in it though the other thing that makes me really suggest this is this other doctor who calls in at the very end of the show and just devastates Baumann within less than 5 minutes.

All say it right out, Hector Avalos’s voice isn’t good on the ears and he tends to hit below the belt sometimes. But I think he’s getting better with the latter thing and he does a really great job completely debunking the absurd Darwin=Hitler killing millions of people argument.

This site is just an awesome site in general for media relating to secularism, atheism and evolution. The following are a couple of great debates in audio form but that’s just a small portion of what the site has to offer. Documents and videos are also constantly updated in the archive.

The following aren’t direct links like the majority of the links I’ll be reviewing but that’s because the page that holds a given discussion or debate will also offer video, or transcripts or media formats other than mp3. It also might be the case that the links are off site. And lastly, the pages are set up to have comments by users on the site and on multiple occasions I’ve seen Richard Dawkins and other opponents like David Berlinski(sp) etc. posting in the comments section as well. And yes it is called RichardDawkins.net but it’s actually an unofficial site which he just heavily promotes and visits.

The show is Sunday Sequence with William Crawley who is an awesome host and moderator. I totally try and mod our meetings modeled after him you know who to blame.

http://tinyurl.com/SciAmvsExpelled
This is awesome cause it’s a recording of John Rennie the editor-in-chief of Scientific American and a couple other editors just destroying one of the associate producers of Ben Stein’s Expelled, Mark Mathis.

http://tinyurl.com/PZMyersGreatestMoment
This debate made me fall in love with PZ Myers. The guy is so soft spoken and looks like the kind of guy you would totally want to hug but is simply no bs when it comes to science and politics. This debate is probably thee most sound ass kicking of an Intelligent Design proponent I have ever heard.

http://tinyurl.com/AyaanHirsiAlivsEdHusain
This one is really good but I see it more as a discussion. Both Ali and Husain agree on pretty much everything but its still a fairly interesting debate to listen to.

http://tinyurl.com/HitchensvsPrager
Dennis Prager is a total douche but Hitchens is totally on the ball in this one. Hitch had Prager back tracking and studdering the whole time.

The last three links are just sites that are loaded with these types of links

I am super thankful for a large portion of these links being courtesy
of PhilVaz at www.bringyou .to

And everyone should totally check out this site managed by Lukeprog, there are over 190 debates he has links to!
