On the human scale, chemistry derives its greatest interest and its tribulations. It is the craft of analysis, deconstruction, and reconstruction. The underlying psychological tensions of this modern-day alchemy will be explored, as will the strong element of transmutation in chemistry, which brings it close to the arts of the divine.
